Josh's 23km Charity Swim for Mental Health

Josh’s 23km Charity Swim Challenge – Proudly Supported by Wetsuit Outlet

Raising Awareness for Mental Health and Addiction Support

We’re proud to be supporting Josh Surridge in his incredible open-ocean charity swim this summer, a 23km challenge that’s close to his heart and ours.

In April 2024, Josh’s close friend tragically lost his brother Jonathan at just 23 years old after a long and difficult battle with mental health.

In response, Josh has decided to take action the best way he knows how, by diving in and pushing himself to the limit to raise awareness and funds for The Forward Trust, a charity supporting people affected by mental health struggles and addiction.

The Challenge

Taking place in July 2025, Josh’s route runs from Hartland Point to Croyde Bay in North Devon, an unrelenting 23km swim through exposed ocean.

With strong tidal currents and unpredictable swell, this is a serious test of endurance, and Josh is hoping to raise at least £2,000 for the Forward Trust through the challenge.

Meet Josh

Josh grew up in and around the water, pushed into his first waves by his dad at just five years old. He went on to become a county swimming champion and national medallist in surf life saving before switching his focus to surfing.

These days, you’ll find him chasing heavy winter swell in West Ireland, windsurfing or wing foiling, or running his family’s business, Coastal Adventures Ltd, with his brother Zac.

Based in North Devon, the company offers unforgettable ocean experiences and coastal tours with a strong focus on safety, respect, and environmental stewardship.

A true waterman with a big heart, Josh is tackling this swim not only as a personal challenge but as a way to give back, and we’re honoured to be backing him all the way.

From Josh:

“A huge thank you to the team at Wetsuit Outlet for supporting this challenge. Your help means a lot—and will go even further in supporting those facing some of life’s toughest battles.”
